The Cutlers prize was awarded for an innovative method of clearing smoke from laparoscopic electrosurgery fields, which works by ionising smoke particles and electrostatically removing them from the field of vision.

The award recognises the high quality of innovative surgical science carried out at NPIMR and further establishes NPIMR as an international leader in the field.
